A 55 year old male was referred to A&E by his GP for investigation of persistent cough, shortness of breath and fever.

Past Medical History:

  • Type II diabetic
  • Hypertension
  • COPD (ex-smoker, 40 pack year history)
  • Ground Maintenance Worker (exposure to fungicides)

The patient is quickly escalated to ICU with an invasive fungal infection. This case explores the complexity of effectively diagnosing and treating invasive fungal infections.
